Multi-Region AWS Migration for Cost and Latency Optimization | Advision Development
This critical infrastructure project involved the complete migration of high-traffic backend and delivery services supporting the Bookmaker platform from an existing European AWS region to a new American region. The strategic goal was to leverage geo-optimization, reduce operational latency for the primary North American user base, and realize substantial long-term cost efficiencies.
As the technical lead for this migration, I was responsible for planning, executing, and validating the move of the entire application stack. This required meticulous coordination to ensure zero downtime for the production environment and verifying the integrity and connectivity of all transferred resources.
Impact on Business and Infrastructure:
Cost Optimization (Business Value): The strategic shift to a more cost-effective American region, combined with efficient resource scaling, resulted in a measurable reduction in the platform's monthly AWS expenditure.
Performance Improvement (User Experience): By moving the infrastructure closer to the primary user base, we achieved a noticeable reduction in service latency for real-time betting lines and data, directly enhancing user satisfaction and platform responsiveness on the Bookmaker application.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements:
Cloud Migration Execution: Successfully planned and executed the end-to-end migration of critical production infrastructure supporting Bookmaker from an AWS European region to an American region.
Core Resource Transfer: Managed the migration and configuration of key AWS services, including: EC2 instances, RDS databases, S3 buckets, ELB load balancers, and CloudFront CDN distributions.
Latency & Performance Tuning: Configured the new regional infrastructure to minimize network latency, directly contributing to improved application response times for the platform's user base.
Cost Efficiency: Identified and implemented key optimizations during the migration process, resulting in demonstrable and ongoing cost savings for the organization's cloud budget.
